1. What We Collect

AutoApply collects the following information to provide its job application automation service:

  • Account information — name, email address, and password (hashed) when you register.
  • Profile data — work experience, education, skills, and preferences you enter in your profile.
  • Uploaded documents — CVs/resumes you upload for tailoring.
  • Job page data — job titles, descriptions, and URLs from pages you visit while the extension is active.
  • Generated documents — tailored resumes and cover letters created by the AI.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Generate tailored resumes and cover letters for job applications.
  • Auto-fill application forms on your behalf.
  • Store your application history so you can track progress.
  • Improve the accuracy of AI-generated content based on your profile.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate AutoApply:

  • OpenAI — for AI-powered resume and cover letter generation. Your profile and job description data is sent to OpenAI's API for processing.
  • Cloudflare R2 — for secure document storage.
  • Supabase (PostgreSQL) — for database hosting.
  • Resend — for transactional email delivery.
  • Google OAuth — optional, for Gmail integration and sign-in.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in encrypted databases and secure cloud storage. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. Documents are stored in private S3-compatible buckets accessible only through authenticated API requests.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The AutoApply Chrome extension requests the following permissions:

  • activeTab, tabs — to detect job application pages and interact with form fields.
  • storage — to store your authentication token locally.
  • scripting — to scan and fill application forms.
  • Host permissions — to access job board sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, LinkedIn, etc.) for form detection and auto-fill.

The extension does not collect browsing history, keystrokes, or any data from non-job-application pages. It only activates on recognized job application URLs.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page. Upon deletion, all profile data, uploaded documents, generated documents, and application history are permanently removed from our systems.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Export your data.
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time.
